The Social Sciences Research Centre (SSRC) and the James M. and Cathleen Stone Centre on Socio-Economic Inequality in Asia (HKU Stone Centre) at The University of Hong Kong successfully concluded two notable events focused on understanding and addressing socio-economic inequality. HKU Announces Establishment of Asia’s First Stone Centre to Tackle Socio-Economic Inequality
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) announced the establishment of the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Centre on Socio-Economic Inequality in Asia on 4 December, made possible by a landmark US$5 million donation from the US-based James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation. HKU is now the first university in Asia to host a Stone Centre, joining a prestigious global network of 13 such centres dedicated to studying wealth inequality.
