From our regular Seminar Series and intensive Training Workshops to our flagship Conferences and annual Summer School, our events provide vital platforms for networking, skill-building, and shaping the global discourse on wealth and income disparities.
Our Seminar Series is a cornerstone of the HKU Stone Centre’s vibrant academic community. Held regularly throughout the academic year, these sessions feature presentations from distinguished visiting scholars, local researchers, and our own faculty. Topics span a wide spectrum of inequality research, including labour economics, social mobility, and redistributive policies. The Centre is dedicated to equipping researchers and students with the advanced tools required to study inequality. Our Training and Workshops offer targeted, hands-on instruction in quantitative methods, data analysis, and emerging research technologies. Led by methodological experts, these intensive sessions are designed for graduate students, early-career researchers, and NGO professionals seeking to upgrade their analytical skills. Our Conferences and Symposia, often co organised with other HKU departments or international partners, convene the world’s leading minds to address the most pressing issues in socioeconomic inequality. These major international events bring together academics, government officials, and civic leaders for days of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and paper presentations. By synthesizing global perspectives with localized Asian contexts, our conferences foster cross-border collaborations and translate high-level academic research into actionable, evidence-based policy solutions.
