Shift-share designs are commonly used across fields of economics, including immigration and trade. This course will cover recent advances in shift-share instrumental variable research designs and more general “formula instruments.”

About the Lecturer

Kirill Borusyak is the Edwin C. Voorhees Endowed Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley’s Agricultural and Resource Economics Department, with an affiliation in the Economics Department. His research focuses on international trade and applied econometrics. Among his many contributions to economics, Kirill has made significant advances in recent developments in shift-share design methodologies.
